About Us

Harold and Joy Wise began their journey in 1981, trading as Wise & Mitchell Machinery after acquiring the business from the Ballinger family, one of the original New Holland Dealers in Australia, based in the small township of Wolseley, S.A.

In 1988, Harold and Joy Wise bought out their partners and rebranded the business as Wise Farm Equipment Pty Ltd. That same year, Grant Wise joined the company, eventually becoming Director in 2000, with his wife Nicole joining as a Director in 2011.

In July 2003, the business relocated to a new premises at Lot 61 Dukes Highway, Bordertown. By 2006, the Ford franchise was added, expanding the business to include the sale and service of new and used vehicles. This expansion required additional yard work and building extensions to accommodate a new Vehicle Workshop, Ag Workshop, and storage shed.

Over the following years, Wise Farm Equipment has expanded its marketing area and added several reputable franchises to meet local needs. In October 2014, the company incorporated the Isuzu UTE franchise.

Grant and Nicole became sole directors in 2022. That year, they seized the opportunity to purchase a new site opposite the main dealership on Ramsay Terrace. This site, equipped with pre-existing storage sheds, offices, and a yard, was renovated to store larger parts and upgraded to include a training room and offices.

In July 2023, Willy Dreckow, Kane Cuthbertson, and Tim Ballinger became joint shareholders, joining Grant and Nicole. Willy, an experienced technician with over 20 years at Wise Farm Equipment, focuses on Precision Ag. Kane, who started as a vehicle salesman in 2009, advanced to Business Manager. Tim, with over 16 years in the agricultural industry, began as a Spare Parts Interpreter and joined Wise Farm Equipment in 2017, now serving as Sales Manager.

In March 2025, Wise Farm Equipment entered a significant new phase of growth by divesting its vehicle franchises and expanding its agricultural machinery operations through the acquisition of Case IH dealer Hage Tractors & Implements Pty Ltd, incorporating branches in Naracoorte and Mount Gambier. This strategic acquisition strengthened Wise Farm Equipment’s presence in the agricultural sector and expanded its ability to support customers throughout the Limestone Coast region. The Bordertown dealership continued to represent the New Holland brand exclusively, while the Naracoorte and Mount Gambier locations continued to provide customers with Case IH machinery, parts, and service support.

Building on this momentum, Wise Farm Equipment further expanded its regional footprint in May 2026 with the acquisition of Sebastopol Machinery Service. The Sebastopol dealership represents both the New Holland and Case IH brands, allowing Wise Farm Equipment to offer customers an even broader range of agricultural equipment solutions, backed by comprehensive parts and servicing capabilities.

In July 2026, Dave Evans joined Wise Farm Equipment as a shareholder, contributing additional experience and leadership to the business as it continues to grow and strengthen its position within the agricultural community.

Throughout this period of growth, Wise Farm Equipment has remained committed to delivering exceptional customer service and supporting its dedicated team. From its humble beginnings in Wolseley with a small number of employees, the business has grown to proudly employ more than 50 staff across four locations, reflecting its ongoing commitment to customers, employees, and the agricultural industry.
